Seeking God in Times of Trouble.

By: Pastor Tony
Do you trust God when things go bad?
Scripture: Psalm 91
“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
Verse one starts with a promise from the Psalmist.  His desire for the reader is to understand that God is concerned and protective of those who will put their trust in Him.

Observation:
When we see God as our refuge, our protector, we will eagerly seek him and surrender our lives to His care.  How comforting it is to know that when we cry out to God, He will protect us just like a mother hen.  He calls us in close under His sheltering wings.  He is our awesome defender and He will never fail us, if we look to Him for our comfort and sheltering protection.  He watches over us, those who trust Him.  His protection comes in many forms, sometimes in the form of angels that we cannot see, who will protect us and keep us safe.  Other times God may send more natural means of protection. But we know that His help will come.  When we cry out, He will respond and will be with us in all our troubles and rescue us.

Application:
Short and to the point—Our hope must be in the Lord.  This step of faith is demonstrated in our confidence that God is in control over all things that are happening.  His sovereign providential work is always meant to draw us in close to Him, so that we know Him more. So what is the answer for us in times of trouble?   Seek the only One that can control the situation and trust Him to help you through it.  Draw in close and rest in His loving protection.
This week try to simply trust God with ALL your troubles and thank Him for keeping you and protecting you.

Prayer:
Dear God, We pray that You would keep us close to You so that we are protected.  In a world that seems to be increasingly troubled, bring peace to our souls.  Thank You Lord for loving and protecting us in our times of trouble.  We praise You for who You are in Jesus powerful name,
Amen!
